Many folks have been asking “why do I have to renew my U2 membership subscription early?”

Here’s why. While your $40.00 purchase may be considered an “annual U2 membership subscription,” what you’re really paying for is a pre-sale code for two concert tickets. As a bonus, you get a nice gift and access to additional content for one year. Did you really buy your membership subscription for the extra content? I didn’t thinks so. It’s all about the concert pre-sale code!

This year we’re experiencing a unique situation. U2 tickets have been and are being sold for two distinct tours in the same one-year period. As far as I know, that has never happened.

Did you use your 2017 pre-sale code for the 2017 Joshua Tree Tour to buy one or more tickets? Yes? Then you need to buy a pre-sale code for the 2018 E+I tour. Thus the early U2 subscription renewal.

If you still have your 2017 pre-sale code and have not used it to buy tickets, you can use it for the 2018 tour. You should not have to renew your subscription early. If you’re still being required to renew, I would suggest contacting Live Nation.
