Back in October, 2014 I learned the live version of California by U2, programmed it into my guitar rig and made the following video:
I did not use any hardware effects. All I used was Native Instruments Guitar Rig 5 and Rig Kontrol running stereo into two Vox AC30’s.
Here is the U2 performance that I based my cover on.

I created 4 containers. Each container is assigned to rig control preset:
Container one holds the setting for the opening reverse effect. There is a tremolo effect that The Edge uses that I still need to add. Also, I run my rig stereo to two Vox AC30’s, so for you GR5 players with with mono setups, your results may vary:
This container has the setting for all the verses:
